  29. When our Digital Equipment VT100 terminal died, we put an 8088 PC in its
  30. place, running DOS, just like it did years ago.  I set it to autoexec to
  31. Kermit.  We even put a monochrome monitor on it.  The dedicated Stromberg
  32. Carlsen software didn't seem to notice the difference ;-)

  34. MSKermit on a bootable DOS 5.x floppy can be a fully capable system,
  35. including file transfers over ethernet.

  37. It certainly does an outstanding job of VT-xxx emulation, as well as some
  38. others, including the Wyse50 that we needed for the Octel voicemail.

  40. Once it boots, it doesn't access the floppy, so there's little worry about
  41. long term floppy wear.
